Privacy
Student work deserves responsible stewardship. This page outlines the principles that shape how we handle data at Binder.
Our principles
- Only collect what's necessary to support teaching and learning.
- Never sell student writing — no exceptions.
- No public-model training on institutional data without explicit authorization.
- Institutions control retention, access, and export.
Data we process
Binder processes assignment content, drafts, revisions, AI interactions, and account metadata required to deliver the product. Access is scoped by role and by institution.
Retention
Retention is configurable per institution. Data can be exported or deleted per institutional policy and applicable law.
FERPA
Binder is designed to support FERPA-aligned workflows. We do not claim certifications that Binder has not earned; contact us for a current compliance overview and DPA.
